Tribute to Julie Isaac

Julie was a wonderful person who brought music and joy into people's lives. She was exactly the kind of gentle, good-humoured, down-to-earth person you needed to be around during the often fragile and sometimes lonely days of early parenthood. Her songs were the soundtrack to my kids' first few years and they have both retained a love of music, no doubt inspired by those sessions at St Jude's and listening to her CD in the car. How I would love to see her again even if just for one more time to thank her for everything.

It was a lovely pleasure meeting Julie and taking my son to her music classes. Julie always had a smile and the classes were uplifting. May her soul rest in peace. God comfort her family, friends, loved ones.💙🕊️

Of all the baby and child classes I took my two kids to during maternity leave, Julie’s was by far and away the best. Her songs and spirit set me up for the week. We had a family rendition of Che Che Kule when we heard the sad news. She was a special woman who always had a smile and words of support and encouragement for bleary eyed new mums! I’m so sorry for your loss x

Dearest Crown Jules was a legend of a woman. I enjoyed her company so much during our time spent creating Sounds like fun playgroup in 2012. She was also the first person I trusted to look after my kids while I had to work. I’m so sorry that she has died so young and I send my deepest condolences to her beloved family. Thanks Julie for all the laughing, singing and sharing of what is important in this busy world - connection with our children and our community. You have left a big legacy of love and joy behind. Our hearts are heavy from sadness and sorrow from hearing of the loss of Angel Julie. Julie was the life and soul of our community, a mother to us all, an inspiration, a joy to be around. She taught us so many interesting, beautiful and memorable songs which integrated culture and storytelling into her musical journey, authentically and genuinely. Julie was so much fun. Julie was one of a kind. Julie loved music and shared her talent to heal and bind us together. Julie welcomed us into her realm and gave us comfort when we needed it most… when I was a first time mother, in my fourth trimester, when I was lost and finding my bearings. I took for granted the next time we’ll see her, dance to her songs and basque in her positive energy. Rest in Power Julie. We thank you and we love you

I am so sorry to hear about Julie’s passing. Sending so much love to her family and friends. I started going to Julie’s Monday morning class when my son was 6 weeks old. Being a first time mum, I was a little nervous for my class. Julie made us feel so welcome and the ‘welcome’ song she sang for my child and me remains one of my fondest memories of the newborn days. I’ve been a regular at the class and my son is now 11 months. At home we regularly sing the songs that Julie taught us - favourites being ‘The Music Train Is Coming’ and ‘There’s a River Flowing’. Her classes fostered a real love of singing with my son and I’ll be forever grateful for the gorgeous memories. May Julie rest in peace. Best wishes, Connie

I will miss working with Julie so much. A wonderful colleague but also a dear friend. She brought such joy, kindness and love to the singing sessions. She also would make me laugh so much with her sense of humour! I learnt so much from Julie and will be forever inspired by her capacity to care so much for all the families. She also was such a musical inspiration and had a knowledge of so many songs from around the world. I loved her spoken word and poetry she would bring sometimes to the sessions, so special. Julie brought beautiful energy into our lives. Such a warm, fun, friendly and kind person. Her singing voice will stay in our minds. We will miss her dearly. Rest in peace.

Julie was always creating a special atmosphere around her - her gentle voice, her guitar, her lovely music. She was so kind to kids! Having so many children to visit her class, she knew everyone's name. Rest in peace beautiful soul, you are deeply missed.

Julie has been such a special part of my maternity leave. I spent so many Mondays with my baby at her music sessions, and they were always the highlight of our week. I always looked forward to them and my baby was always so happy to be there. So often he would toddle up to Julie while she was singing and she always made him feel so welcome, giving him her attention with such warmth and kindness. Julie was such a kind, loving and gentle soul. She will be missed dearly and we will always be grateful for those precious moments she gave us.

It’s devastating to hear about Julie. I spent 2 mat leaves with her and always looking forward to her music sessions. A memory of her… She would always sing “Fra Martino” / “Frere Jacques…” song in many languages and always trying to learn new multi cultural songs to include everyone… She was a very kind, loving, unique soul that brought so much to families and communities in Queen’s Park. Julie’s music sessions were the highlight of my week when I was on maternity leave. My little one has been the happiest child at each of her sessions and loves music from the first day Julie welcomed us. She was a caring a bright soul who will be remembered in the community forever.

Julie was one of the highlights of our children’s week. They used to come home singing her songs with joy. She will be sorely missed and this is a great loss to our community
